We are proud to announce that graphic designer Gokhan Yeter has been awarded Best Film Poster at the 25th ImagineIndia International Film Festival (IIIFF) in Madrid. Yeter’s evocative design work continues to gain recognition worldwide, and this latest accolade marks a significant achievement in his international career.
Yeter is nominated for Best Poster Design for the feature film When the Walnut Trees Turn Yellow—a powerful and poetic story set in southeastern Turkey. His poster captures the film’s emotional landscape with striking visual symbolism, echoing its themes of family, identity, and the quiet tensions of life in a region caught between military pressure and guerrilla presence.
About the Film
Directed by Mehmet Ali Konar, When the Walnut Trees Turn Yellow follows Ciwan, a devoted Kurdish village chief and father, who tries to uphold stability amid social pressures and scarce resources. Unbeknownst to his 14-year-old son Feyzi, Ciwan is battling a serious illness—adding a deeper urgency to their daily lives. The film blends harsh realism with touches of the magical, portraying both the fragility and the resilience of an ever-vulnerable community. It stands as a heartfelt father–son portrait and a testament to Kurdish cultural endurance.
The film has already gained remarkable momentum, earning eight festival nominations, including premieres at Göteborg IFF, Mostra São Paulo IFF, and Hof Filmtage IFF, as well as multiple awards such as Best Film, Audience Choice, and Best Actor across international festivals.
